Togekiss -A complete discription

Togekiss -A complete discription

Togekiss
Togekiss, The Jubilee Pokémon. It shares many blessings with people who respect one another's rights and avoid needless strife. As everyone knows, it visits peaceful regions, bringing them gifts of kindness and sweet blessings. It will never appear where there is strife. Its sightings have become rare recently.

Overview
Togekiss was part of the giant wave of evolutions for older generation's Pokemon in DPP, and is one of the better ones to have been added. Having excellent bulk, a very high Special Attack, a reliable recovery, as well as good set up moves in a decent movepool mixed with Serene Grace, Togekiss is very good at what it does. Though like every Pokemon, it does have its faults. The main one is that it has a weakness to both Stealth Rock as well as several types whose users are considerably faster than Togekiss (who has a mediocre Speed). This doesn't particularly deter Togekiss, thanks to either Body Slam or Thunder Wave (if you happen to run it), so at least Togekiss has the ability to beat the Pokemon with super effective STABs. Overall, Togeiss manages to fulfill a variety of roles, including being a support Pokemon to being a straight up sweeper.
Abilities
Hustle: Physical moves do 1.5x more damage at the cost of losing 20% accuracy, an ability that is pretty much useless on Togekiss as it has an extremely low Attack stat to begin with, especially compared to its Special Attack.
Serene Grace: The chance of the secondary effect of an attack occurring is doubled, the best ability for Togekiss, allowing moves like Body Slam and Air Slash to have extremely high effectiveness at either paralyzing the opponent or making them flinch.
Super Luck: Increases the chances of critical hits by one stage, a decent ability that pales in comparison to Serene Grace though, so unless you really have something against Serene Grace, don't use this.

Movesets
The Togekiss of Death
-Nasty Plot
-Air Slash
-Thunder Wave / Heal Bell
-Roost
Item Attached: Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs and Nature:
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe or 248 HP / 216 SDef / 44 Spe
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) or Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)

This is the main set you'll see on Togekiss in UnderUsed, either the physically defensive variant (216 Def EVs and Bold Nature) or the specially defensive set (216 SDef EVs and Calm Nature), however each of the variants will run about the same moveset. Nasty Plot boosts Togekiss' already high Special Attack to enormous levels, allowing Togekiss to power through many of the Pokemon in UU. Air Slash is its main attacking move, that also receives a handy STAB boost. Air Slash also has a 60% chance of making the opponent Flinch (if Togekiss is faster at least), making that Nasty Plot boost even more effective if you get the Flinch. The third slot depends on whether you want to support Togekiss more or support your team as a whole. Thunder Wave allows Togekiss to become one of the most annoying Pokemon on the planet, as it paralyzes the opponent without fail. This combined with Air Slash make the ever annoying ParaFlinch, which gives your opponent very little opportunity to actually do anything. Heal Bell on the other hand cures any status afflictions that your team has, allowing you to not have to be concerned too much by them. Roost is the recovery move that Togekiss runs, allowing it to not only heal itself but also get rid of any weaknesses due to Flying in a pinch. As mentioned earlier, the choices for EVs and Nature are between a physically defensive Togekiss and a specially defensive one, running the certain pair of EVs and nature respectively.
A Serene Jubilee
-Nasty Plot
-Air Slash
-Fire Blast / Flamethrower
-Roost / Aura Sphere
Item Attached: Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs and Nature:
EVs: 176 HP / 80 SAtk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)

This set focuses more on Togekiss' offensive capabilities than most of its other sets, although this still does have a bit of bulk to it. Nasty Plot does the same as it does usually, boosting Special Attack by two stages, making Togekiss a formidable sweeper. Air Slash also fulfills the same role as before, acting as strong STAB that also has a high chance to Flinch. The third slot goes to a Fire coverage move, either Fire Blast or Flamethrower (more power, less accuracy or less power, higher accuracy), which hits Steel types such as Bronzong as well as other things Air Slash doesn't hit such as Electric types like Zapdos and Raikou. The last slot goes to either Roost, which provides reliable recovery for Togekiss as well as a way to nullify some of its weaknesses temporarily, or Aura Sphere, which hits Rock types like Rhyperior harder as well as some Dark types.
A Paralysing Kiss
-Thunder Wave / Body Slam
-Air Slash
-Aura Sphere / Flamethrower / Nasty Plot
-Roost
Item Attached: Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs and Nature:
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)

This is the specific ParaFlinch set that Togekiss is known for. Thunder Wave or Body Slam paralyze the opponent (one being guaranteed Paralysis, the other doing damage), while Air Slash often Flinches the opponent to a KO before it can even move. The third slot is dependent on what you need, with Aura Sphere hitting Rocks, Flamethrower hitting Steels, and Nasty Plot just making Air Slash more powerful. Roost is the final move, allowing Togekiss to heal and start the process all over again from full health.
Other Options
Grass Knot, Heat Wave, Hyper Voice, Magic Coat, Psyshock, Shadow Ball, Tailwind, Tri Attack, Trick
Grass Knot allows for a better coverage option on bulky Water types like Blastoise, Suicune, and Swampert, as well as Rock Pokemon such as Rhyperior.
Heat Wave, as it usually does, provides an alternate Fire coverage move to Flamethrower and Fire Blast, being in the middle for both power and accuracy.
Hyper Voice is a powerful Normal type STAB move that Togekiss can use to great effect, as it hits many Pokemon for strong neutral damage.
Magic Coat is an option to help reflect hazards or status back at the opponent, helping to shield Togekiss from either.
Psyshock allows Togekiss to hit on the physical side of the spectrum without actually using its insanely low Attack stat, although Psyshock won't be hitting too much harder than a boosted Air Slash or the like.
Shadow Ball is a decent coverage move, although it doesn't hit too much that would generally threaten Togekiss too hard.
Tailwind is a great support move, allowing Togekiss to even sweep in some situations after a boost from Nasty Plot as well as the Speed from Tailwind, which the rest of its team can take advantage of as well, although this does mean giving up a moveslot.
Tri Attack is another option for a Normal type STAB, and can provide a higher chance of giving status thanks to Serene Grace.
Trick can be used on Togekiss as a gimmick or a surprise tactic, but otherwise it isn't the greatest thing to waste a moveslot on for Togekiss.

Double & Triple Battle Options
Togekiss is very usable in Doubles and Triples, being able to utilize its regular sets, in addition to sets that take advantage of its high Special Attack such as a Choice Scarf set (where Trick is actually useful), as well as sets that take advantage of its bulk such as a Follow Me set, which allows another Pokemon to set up or attack while Togekiss takes the beating.
Partners
Good partners for Togekiss include Rapid Spinners such as Blastoise, Hitmontop, or Claydol, as Stealth Rock is going to be a major pain as it takes off 25% of Togekiss' health every time it switches in. Anything that can deal with faster Electric types, such as a Choice Scarf Pokemon can definitely help as well. With the paralyzing sets, slower sweepers can use the paralysis to help them set up before their opponent, opening up a lot of options for them.
Countering Togekiss
Stealth Rock is the easiest way to beat Togekiss, as most sweepers don't even have a guaranteed OHKO on Togekiss, meaning paralysis, set up, and so on. With Stealth Rock in play, it is much easier both to handle and to take down, as it has to worry about switches to ensure its preservation. Electric types like Zapdos and Raikou, as mentioned earlier, can definitely cause trouble with super effective STAB, although they do have to be wary of paralysis (thanks to those Dream World abilities still not being out). Bulkier Pokemon such as Rhyperior and Snorlax both can handle most Togekiss variants, though each have to watch out for boosted super effective coverage, flinches, and Snorlax with paralysis. Other than that, there aren't too many other options other than to just attempt to muscle through Togekiss with Pokemon like Darmanitan, Victini, Flygon and so forth.
